Personality:
Justin, at first impression, is a happy, polite, and down-to-earth individual. His dramatic dedication to God is unwavering, and his passion seems completely genuine. The only thing that may throw someone off about him is the fact that by "God", he's usually speaking about a Death God. Given that "God" has a different meaning in the Soul Eater canon, worshiping Death is not seen as morbid behavior. In fact, Justin's zealousness is still seen as virtuous. To this extent, he is of such faith, it was said by a powerful meister by the name of Dr. Stein, who is considered to be an expert on madness, that men of powerful faith like Justin were less likely to be infected by the insanity wavelength released by the Kishin, the Demon God. He has likely had this level of dedication for the years he trained at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA). When it comes to issues other than his faith, Justin is a very reserved individual. He's indifferent on subjects that would otherwise seem like cause for concern, and tends to keep people at a distance. He's never seen as truly "close" to anyone, but rather the one who does things on his own, and succeeds, proving to himself and others he doesn't actually need anyone.

Music is very important to Justin, to the point where he won't take out his earbuds, regardless of when people are trying to talk to him. His obsession with his music is another example of his tendency towards apathy. He doesn't care enough to listen to someone actually speaking, choosing instead to just read their lips. Because of this, he's learned to read lips well enough that he doesn't need to actually hear an individual speak. That is, provided the person who's speaking to him with speaks visibly (aka isn't wearing a mask, or facing away), but even if they aren't, he doesn't bother to inform them that he can't hear them, instead pretending that he can, and just acting agreeably. To this extent, some might even consider him a good listener, if they don't realize he can't actually hear them (cough cough Tezca). On top of that, it's possible he's somewhat deaf, considering that he typically listens to his music so loud, other people at least a few feet away can hear it. Justin will also be very loud in the occasion he needs to yell, once again, probably due to the earphones.

After the battle for the Brew, Justin is sent to search for the Kishin, and subsequently falls under the influence of the Clown, a creature who is said to be "madness incarnate" and has the ability to infect even the most resistant of characters with insanity. Justin resisted this change, hence the extended absence, but eventually succumbs. The same situation happens early in the manga to Maka and Soul, but because Soul is able to snap Maka out of the madness, she survives the encounter with her sanity. Justin has always worked on his own, and because of this, he lost himself to the madness. His loyalty and dedication to Death has been replaced, and instead has switched to being loyal to the Kishin. Internally, it's implied he feels guilt for his actions under the Clowns control, but externally he shows no regret. At one point, he even killed a man named B.J., and when he returns to Death City to launch an assassination attempt on Maka as well, he then smiles when his true intentions have been found out by Marie and Stein.

Most people, when they lose themselves to the Kishin's madness, begin to exhibit erratic, and somewhat uncontrollable behavior. Justin seems to have managed to retain his calm sense of impassiveness for much longer than most, while the madness continued to take over his soul. He is therefore able to convince a good many people that he is perfectly normal, aside from an notable sadistic side he has gained. For example, he mocks the idea of repenting, and is willing takes off his earphones… but only in order to listen to Gopher as he brutally beats up Death the Kid.

Justin can be quite sarcastic. Before his betrayal, this part of him is mostly brought out when he encounters Giriko, who like himself, is also an autonomous weapon. This, and the fact that their souls wavelengths are on par with each other, has caused a rivalry between the two. And so, Justin taunts him whenever possible. Despite thinking lowly of him as a person, he recognizes Giriko as a powerful weapon. Thus when Baby Yaga's castle fell, Justin (joined by the Clown) sought out Giriko to invite him to join Noah's team, on the side of the Kishin. Giriko accepted, but apparently even being on the same side couldn't prevent the two from fighting.

Eventually he completely loses himself, his resistence to the insanity completely shattered when Tezca Tlipoca tries to save him. He fails to understand why someone on an opposing faction of him cares about him and eventually kills Tezca, his last chance for redemption.

Powers: : In the Soul Eater canon, "weapons" are people with the genetics to be able to transform into a physical weapon. Justin is one of these people, his weapon form being that of a guillotine. Typically, weapons require meisters in order to harness their full potential. Once a meister and weapon have reaped one hundred souls, the weapon becomes a "Death Scythe" which is more a rank than an actual scythe. This is the highest rank a weapon can become, according to the DWMA, and once reaching that rank, said Death Scythe has a certain continent placed under their jurisdiction; in Justin's case, he was one of two Death Scythes in charge of Europe. Justin achieved this rank on his own, most likely due to the impracticality of his complete weapon form, and is known as an "autonomous weapon," meaning he can use his weapon abilities to their best without the help of a meister. Another noted ability is that he can increase his soul wavelength by praying.

As a result, he finds it more convenient to only transform partially, with a blade that stick out of his forearm. As such, most of his attacks are ranged in close combat. For example, "Law Abiding Silver Gun", "Saint Cross Knife", and "Carcan Claw" are a few of Justin's attacks, while he is still sane.

Once Justin starts losing his sanity and joins the side of the Kishin, he picks up a few new skills from the Clown, where he will form a (functional but wrong) fusion with the Clown, akin to the Soul Resonance that Meisters and Weapons make, called "madness fusion." This increases his defense, attack, as well as spread a wave of madness into the surrounding area. However, it severely limits his mobility, since the lower half of a guillotine has replaced his entire torso and legs, and can only be used with the Clown around. The further Justin sinks into madness, the more deformed his body, growing multiple arms and bending over backwards to the point of where it would seem like his spine should be broken. Insanity is a hell of a drug.

SAMPLES Two threads,
here and here although this is a slightly further down the line canon-wise Justin than what I'm intending to app.
